The New Ireland Government Subsidy Office has cut down a number of its programs due to funding constraints as a result of Lihir Mining Royalties payments now diverted straight to the two district treasuries. The subsidy division has now narrowed down its focus to Ward Development Grants and Roof over heads. A man jailed for life for the murder of a pregnant Queensland teenager has been granted a retrial by the state’s highest court. Rodney Wayne Williams, 65, was last year convicted of murdering 16-year-old Tiffany Taylor after arranging to meet with her for sex. On Tuesday, Queensland’s Court of Appeal quashed Mr Williams’ conviction and ordered a retrial, finding the trial judge had erred in directions. Tiffany disappeared in July 2015 after the pair arranged to meet for sex in Waterford West, south of Brisbane. Her body has never been found. Her blood was found in Mr Williams’s car and…

The Department of Personal Management released another circular superseding the previous instruction advising Public Servants on the new polling date for the Moresby North-West By-Election. “Polling is for one day only and public servants who reside in the Moresby North-West electorate must be released to cast their votes on the 4th of June 2021 at their respective polling stations,” Department of Personal Management Secretary Taies Sansan. More than twenty students graduated with a certificate in Social Science Research Methods after a week of intensive study at the Papua New Guinea National Research Institute (PNG NRI) on Friday 21 May 2021.
