The Port Moresby Basketball Association has been granted approval by the Basketball Federation of Papua New Guinea (BFPNG) and the Papua New Guinea Sports Foundation Pandemic Management Committee (PNGSF PMC) to commence competitions and events at the Sir John Guise Indoor Stadium but under strict Niupla Pasin guidelines.
General Manager for Basketball Operations, Mr Patrick Ani said the Board and Management of Port Moresby Basketball Association are cordially inviting any interested clubs and teams to participate in the Senior and U18 Division of the ‘Super 7 Classics’ Series.
“We now invite all clubs and teams that wish to participate in our competition to complete the registration forms and return back to the association on the 5th July 2021”, said Mr Ani.
There will be no spectators allowed at the games however, the association are working towards having these matches streamed live on their social media platforms with sponsorship options available.
The current competition divisions that are now open for registration are in the Senior Women’s division, the Senior Men’s division and the U18 Women’s and U18 Men’s division.
“There is a maximum of 5 teams that will be able to participate so spaces are limited”, added Mr Ani.
Mr Ani said that trials into the competition will commence for 2 weeks on the 6th July 2021 and the deadline for Team registration will be on the 20th July 2021.
“All registered teams that participate will be eligible to compete at the POMBA All-Stars Tournament that will be held post-season to select teams for the BFPNG Junior and Senior National Championships that are to be held from September 10-17, 2021”, said Mr Ani.
