The referee blew time on an enthralling half of football, with both sides throwing plenty at their opponents. Penrith absorbed a mountain of pressure through the middle stages of the half, with Parramatta throwing plenty at their opponents and coming agonisingly close on multiple occasions. The momentum started to shift in the final five minutes of the period, with Panthers halfback Nathan Cleary starting to open up some holes in the defence.
