Tokyo Olympic Hopeful Rellie Kaputin was in action last weekend at the Australian National Championships in Sydney. A season’s best jump of 6.25m in Friday’s qualifying round which ranked her third in the field of 16 athletes raised hopes of a bigger jump in Sundays final, especially since her foot was well behind the board on take-off for that particular jump. All 11 beds at the Emergency Room at the Port Moresby General Hospital are fully occupied with patients,  including the Hospital’s Isolation ward. The Isolation Ward has a capacity of 18 beds and right now are fully occupied with Covid19 patients. That is according to the PMGH CEO Dr. Paki Molumi. There are additional changes to the requirements for international travel, effective  today, Tuesday 20 April, 2021.  These changes will affect all passengers departing to Australia , as well as to Singapore , Hong Kong , Manila and any other Air Niugini international destinations. Papua New Guinea has recorded one new COVID-19 death in the last 24 hours ending 12 midday on Monday April 19, increasing the total number of deaths to 91. A 48-year-old male from Western Highlands Province died from COVID-19, increasing the number of deaths in Western Highlands to three and the national death toll to 91. ACTING DEPUTY Police Commissioner Operations Mr Donald Yamasombi handed over 12 brand new police vehicles to Oro Provincial Police today at the Boroko Motors Showroom in Port Moresby. The vehicles were purchased under the Kind-for-Kina scheme initiated by Police Commissioner David Manning. This is a scheme whereby the provincial governments allocates a certain amount of money and the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary (RPNGC) pays the other component to restore the fleet of the aging police fleet of vehicles nationwide. Police Commissioner David Manning this week directed the release of Mr Laken Lepatu Agilo from police custody following a meeting with Commander NCD/Central Assistant Commissioner Anthony Wagambie Junior. Mr Aigilo was allegedly arrested yesterday by a police unit and locked up at the Boroko Police Station.
