Prime Minister James Marape says the Royal Commission of Inquiry (COI) into the K3 billion Union Bank of Switzerland (UBS) loan is “not a waste of time and money”. Papua New Guinea has recorded 57 new COVID-19 cases on Friday 30 July, increasing the total number of cases to 17,774. The cases were reported in five provinces. The National Capital District reported the highest of 28 cases followed by Madang with 21 cases. West Sepik reported four cases, Morobe three cases whilst East New Britain reported a single case. Of the 57 cases, 47 were males whilst 10 were females. Their ages range between 52 and 59 years. Twelve out of the 57 cases were experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 at the time of testing. Indonesian Ambassador to PNG, H.E Andrias Supandi has paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister James Marape recently during which they discussed new and ongoing issues of mutual concern.
