The PNG University of Technology and the PNG Joint Forces Academy (Igam) signed a MOU for training and technical cooperation and implementation of Learning Management System (Moodle) at the academy. Five members of a criminal gang responsible for hurling a grenade that killed two men in Goilala were ambushed and killed in a retaliatory attack in December. Based on advice from Civil Defence authorities, Auckland mayor Wayne Brown has formally extended the local state of emergency, but expects it will be lifted early.
