Air Niugini is advising their valued customers on their flights to Tokua Airport in Rabaul, East New Britain, that it has downgraded their Dash 8 operations due to poor runway conditions. The National Airports Corporation (NAC) issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) to cease jet operations from Tuesday 23rd May, while they address the runway issue. The airline will advise when jet operations will resume once they get feedback from NAC on the runway works. Papua New Guinea’s Prime Minister, James Marape, arrived ahead of time at the APEC Haus, Ela Beach in Port Moresby, ahead of meet with Fiji’s Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka. This initial meet is in the lead up to the 3rd Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation later this week. The Fijian Prime Minister arrived a few minutes to the top of the hour, along with his delegates, including the Fijian High Commissioner to PNG Niumaia Tabunakawai.
