Morobe Provincial Government’s  Head of Human Resource Management has announced it will fund public  servants to attend short Small Medium Enterprises (SME) and Financial Literacy courses before they retire. The Lae City Authority (LCA) has started conducting random checks on Liquor outlets, gaming and entertainment centres, night clubs and food bars in order to see if they are complying with health and safety regulations. These random checks are a done in a partnership between LCA, department of labour, ICCC, IRC, police, IPA and immigration. The random checks commenced last night saw the joint task force were able to shut down several gaming and Liquor outlets. Community members in Morobe Province have expressed mixed reactions and have publicly cried foul over the first-of-its-kind government allocation of funds to mark and celebrate the 2022 National Independence Day tomorrow. Most of them did not support the government’s resolution to allocate K1million to each districts just to observe the national event. Morobe Provincial Education Program Advisor Keith Tangui has announced it will collaborate Australian Football League (AFL) with its Niu Kick program to reach out to the most remote schools in the province. PPA Keith Tangui announced this at the Erap Primary School during his visit to launch the six cluster primary schools expo which commenced yesterday. The major damage and dislocation of structural building infrastructures encountered by Wawin National School of Excellence in Morobe during the recent earthquake will not hinder the school from sitting the grade twelves(12) National examinations this year. This was a statement issued by the school’s Deputy Principal Mr. Erick Kep. Kep made this statement on Sunday afternoon just after the 7.6 magnitude earthquake hit Morobe, Madang and other provinces. Wawin National School of Excellence in Morobe is calling on relevant authorities to intervene and assess several damages caused by the recent massive earthquake and determine if the buildings are fit for use by students. The recent 7.6 magnitude earthquake hit Morobe, Madang and parts of the Highlands Region and was even felt in other provinces on Sunday morning. At Wawin National School of Excellence, 10 classrooms, four laboratories and dormitories received damages as a direct result of the earthquake on the aging infrastructure. More than 3, 000 people have fled for their safeties while properties worth hundreds of thousands have been burnt down to ashes at Back Road in Lae, Morobe Province. This follows a fight among settlers from Morobe and Sepiks. The fight steamed up after the declaration of Nawaeb open seat during the National General Election. Buimo Correctional Services (CS) now has a tailoring shop inside its campus in Lae. The shop was funded by Correctional Services through its social services department.
