The Papua New Guinea Ports Corporation Limited (PNG Ports) recently congratulated and hosted a small but significant ceremony in recognition of three staff members who graduated from Divine Word University under the tuition fee support from PNG Ports Corporate Sponsorship Scheme.
The PNG Ports Corporate Sponsorship Scheme was specifically designed to aid staff with full or partial financial aid for undergraduate and post graduate studies at any recognized tertiary institution in PNG and abroad.
Team Leader-Standards and Licensing in the Maritime compliance Division of PNG Ports Tobias Goimba, graduated with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, among two female staff from Motukea Port Operations Team, Stella Manau and Molong Kilol, Both attaining a diploma in Business studies.
The Sponsorship program scope covers enrolment, registration and tuition fees, travel boarding and lodging fees and other study requirements.
It inspires improve job related skills, personal development, and the empowerment of staff.
PNG Ports Officer in charge Ian Hayden-Smart, commended the three staff graduates for their milestone achievement while enduring work commitments, also sharing that it is a strong example for the colleagues to follow.
Furthermore, stated that this development initiative demonstrates the commitment of PNG Ports to continue to invest in its staff and the valued principle of improvement through development career opportunities, to fulfill the ever-changing business demands.
In turn, ensuring the company has the capacity to perform continued success and future contribute to upskilling and developing the workforce in the country.
On behalf of the three graduates Mr. Goimba expressed thanks to PNG Ports for the continuous support throughout the duration of the course each graduate undertook.
Also mentioning that it would not have been possible without the financial support by PNG Ports.
“We are determined to bring this newfound knowledge and skills back to PNG Ports and contribute productively in our respective roles to the overall success of the company”.
According to Date, a total of 47 staff have received tuition fee support under PNGCL Corporate Sponsorship Scheme. Among the 47, 15 have successfully completed and graduated in various study programs with the rest still in progress.
