The 2021 PMSA competition will be officially kicked-off by the Governor of NCD – Hon. Powes Parkop on Saturday 24th of July at 2.00pm at the Bisini Soccer Park.
However, matches will be scheduled during the Public holiday on Friday the 23rd of July at the Bisini Soccer Park.
To date 45 clubs have indicated their intention to participate. The Premier, First and Second divisions will each have 10 teams. The Third, Under 23 and Women’s divisions are no affected by the relegation/promotion rule so may have more or less teams.
The General Secretary – George Bukoya encouraged all teams to pay up the Subscription fee of K2100 per club and adhere to the deadline (Tuesday, 20th July) set at the Club Delegates meeting two weeks ago on the 4th July. Bukoya further stressed that the Secretariat will implement resolutions of the Club delegates meeting and that of the Executive Committee.
Mr. Posman, stressed that managers of Premier Clubs Division must ensure they comply. The Premier Division is PMSA’s flagship and it is important the clubs in this division maintain high standards, starting with compliance.
“It is important that managers of existing clubs make the extra effort to meet the subscription deadline. Clubs that fail to meet the deadline will be expelled from this year’s competition”.
The Vice President Kisakiu Posman pointed out that, in the event that a Club fails to meet the deadline, that particular club will be expelled from this year’s competition and should that particular club decide to participate in 2022 it will do so in the 3rd Division.
During the club managers meeting at Bisini Park on Saturday 17th July, the General Secretary – George Bukoya encouraged clubs to comply with the COVID19 prevention measures. “Take note, the approval by PNGFA for MA’s to start their respective competition has conditions. One of the conditions is that No spectators are allowed. There will be a Covid19 prevention check-point at the gate and players and managers must corporate with the staff at this check point”.
Bukoya further added that the Secretariat is committed to improving the Associations administrative processes and to being accountable to the members but success can only be realized when member clubs are kept informed and that decisions and processes are transparent. He asked clubs to cooperate with the Competition Coordination Team to ensure a successful rollout of Season 2021.
