Member for Rai Coast District Ms. Kessy Sawang in her first official visit to her district as a member after being elected stressed in prioritising education in her district.
During an official opening ceremony of the newly built science laboratory and library for Jamad Primary School at Marakum Ward two area in Astrolabe Bay LLG of Rai Coast said that she aims in prioritising education even prior becoming an MP for Rai Coast.
The two new buildings were initiatives of Levi pays by a logging investment company known as Golden Rise Investment & Rai Coast Holdings a local incorporated land group in the area .
She said with the 1-6-6 education structure reform being implemented in all schools throughout PNG, she would do her best for Rai Coast District to be ranked first in terms of education while serving her term as a member for Rai Coast District.
MP Sawang stressed that during her time as their member she will make sure to remove all bush material school buildings and install permanent classrooms throughout the district.
“Since the school has a new library I will invest in Jamad Primary to be the first school in the district to have electronic library in my district, thus I will make sure the school to get the facilities needed early next year.
It will be a pilot school so I urge you people to look after the services that are established in your area”, she said.
Sawang added that her aim is to make sure the students are able to sit in proper classrooms and able to get quality education, hence the Rai Coast District Development Authority in its 2023 budget has allocated a two hundred thousand Kina for the school to build a new two in one classroom.
Furthermore, MP Sawang thanked the Golden Rise Investment and Incorporated Land Group Rai Coast Holdings in recognizing the importance of such services being delivered to the villages.
