Prime Minister Hon.James Marape MP announced National Government Support for the proposed Special Economic Zone (ISEZ) at Kikori in Gulf Province this week.
He announced this when launching the ISEZ and several other impact projects in Kikori.
PM Marape was accompanied by Gulf Governor Hon.Chris Haiveta and Central Governor Hon. Robert Agarobe; Goilala MP and Transport Minister Hon. William Samb; Works Minister Hon. Michael Nali; and Kikori MP and Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Hon. Soroi Eoe.
“I came here to support the ISEZ,” he said.
“Your land is your contribution to the project.
“We will never allow you to sell your land.
“By being together and working together, we can build the future we want.”
PM Marape announced:
K5milllion for Kikori District Development Authority (DDA) land registration and mobilisation until the desired outcome from ISEZ;
K10-million every year for the ISEZ project;
K5-milllion for construction of Kerema-Ihu-Vailala Road;
K5-milllion for Kerema Town road projects;
K5-milllion for the Kerema-Ihu-Kikori Road;
K7 million for the seven high schools in Gulf; and
Ten sawmills to cut trees and build houses.
PM Marape said his Government would maximise benefits from the Papua LNG Project for the good of Gulf, which was why development of Kerema, Kikori and Ihu was important.
