PNG Power would like to advise all its valued customers of the following outages and restoration timings where as in POM Grid, there is currently an outage on Bomana Feeder 1, affecting customers at Rouna Quaries, Nebiri Quaries, Laloki Mental Hospital, Police College, Correctional Service College, Nari 1 &2, Goldie Barracks, Mt Laws and Nazareth Mission.
PNG Power’s Lines teams are currently patrolling the lines to identify fault, rectify the issue and will restore power supply.
In the Ramu Grid, Goroka Township experienced a total power outage from Friday, 14th June, 2024, following disgruntled landowners at Yauna Village, between Yonki and Kainantu, resulting in the destruction of power lines along the area.
Negotiations between PNG Power and the landowners on Saturday was unsuccessful until the early hours of Sunday morning, 16th June, 2024, when an agreement was reached and clearance work was undertaken.
Power supply was fully restored at 9:30pm last night.
Meanwhile, in Gazelle Grid, Both Kokopo and Rabaul just experienced another total power outage this morning at around 10:02am.
The outage was caused when an attempt was made to restore power supply to Kokopo Feeder 2, causing both generating Units at the Warangoi Hydro Power station to trip.
Restoration is currently underway and we will keep everyone in the area posted on the work progress.
A similar total power outage was also experienced in the early hours of this morning around 12:05am when Kokopo Feeder 4 tripped on an unknown fault, tripping both generating units at Warangoi Hydro Power station.
The faulty feeder was isolated and power was fully restored at around 4:50am this morning.
