Very unfortunate news has come out of Jiwaka Province over the past days, as police in the province are now trying to ascertain the facts surrounding the killing of one of their own.
Highlands Eastern Command, Chief Superintendent Rigga Neggi has confirmed that on the 11th of this month [Friday] they had received news in Mt. Hagen City that a police officer was killed in the Jiwaka.
“At the moment we are trying to establish facts surrounding the officers death and I have instructed men on the ground to do a preliminary investigation into the killing with support from Mt. Hagen,” Neggi said. A Mobile squad unit from Mt. Hagen was dispatched to assist with the investigations on ground as in cases such as this, CSP Neggi stated the situation may be volatile.
On Saturday (12/11/22), the Chief Superintendent travelled to the Province to oversee the investigations. At this point in time, Police are keeping a tight-lip on the situation.
