The Student Representative Senate (SRS) of the Papua New Guinea University of Technology (PNGUOT) is now well aware of the recent viral video that is in circulation due to recent happenings on campus and condemns such behavior.
In a recent statement, the SRS has provided clarification regarding the recent incident captured in the video; the individual involved is not a registered female student at the University.
The situation began with a verbal confrontation between her and a male student as she attempted to enter the first-year dormitory without authorization.
In response, she was escorted to the library under the assumption that she was a student, in order to facilitate her departure from the male dormitory.
However, the actions of the particular student caught harassing the woman in the video is not tolerated.
The SRS and the University does not condone but condemn such actions.
Investigation is already underway, and all evidence and information has been submitted to student services to bring to the right authorities, University Security Disciplinary Committee (USDC) and the police for charges and penalties to be given to the culprit.
The male students have expressed their sentiments around 2AM on the 10th of August 2025, at the first and final year dormitories, that such action is not accepted and want to reassure the SAFETY of their female colleagues.
The Student Representative Senate (SRS) stands firmly for the safety and respect of all students-both male and female at the PNGUOT.
“We do not tolerate harassment of any kind, and those who act inappropriately will face serious consequences.”
