PNG ANNOUNCES SQUAD FOR ICC MEN'S T20

The PNG Barramundis departed today for Brisbane to play warm-up matches against Queensland Cricket with the official 15-man squad ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Asia & EAP Regional Final in Oman later this month.


The Board has officially announced the 15-player squad after careful consideration of current form, fitness, and anticipated match conditions, with the aim of creating a versatile and balanced team capable of performing at the highest level.

2. Sese Bau (Vice-Captain) – Batsman / Mystery Spinner
3. Ainiu Loi – Batsman
4. Lega Siaka – Batsman
5. Boio Ray – Batsman
6. Gaudi Toka – All-Rounder (Pace Bowler / Batsman)
7. Patrick Nou – All-Rounder (Spin Bowler / Batsman)
8. Malcolm Aporo – All-Rounder (Batsman)
9. Hila Vare – Wicketkeeper
10. Doko Rupa – Wicketkeeper / Batter

Assad Vala will lead the team as captain, with Sese Bau appointed vice-captain and the batting order lineup features top-order talents such as Ainiu Loi, Lega Siaka, and Boio Ray, all known for their consistency and ability to deliver under pressure.


The all-rounders include Gaudi Toka, Patrick Nou, and Malcolm Aporo, providing both batting firepower and bowling flexibility. Hila Vare and Doko Rupa have been selected as wicketkeepers, ensuring strong glovework and finishing ability in the lower order.


The spin attack will be led by John Kariko, while the pace department comprises Alei Nao, Damien Ravu, Michael Charlie, and Kabua Morea, offering a mix of express pace, swing, and death-bowling expertise.


The squad reflects a strategic approach to balance experience with youthful energy, blending seasoned campaigners with dynamic young talent.


It has been selected to adapt to any pitch or match scenario, maintain aggressive batting throughout the order, provide variety and depth in bowling, and uphold high standards in fielding.


Every player has been chosen to contribute to a team capable of navigating the group stages, excelling in the Super Six, and competing successfully in the knockout rounds.


Hudson Api Leka, Chairman of Selectors and Team Manager, expressed confidence in the team’s ability to represent the nation with skill, determination, and unity.
