Ok Tedi Mining Ltd recently launched its 90-day Live Well Challenge campaign by its Health Services Department in Tabubil to help their employees adopt healthy living habits and develop a healthier workforce with higher performance capabilities.
Raymond Singamis, OTML Manager Health Services, noted that the 90-Day Live Well Challenge aims to improve OTML employees’ health and wellness by encouraging them to embrace healthier lifestyle practices.
He stated that the challenge entails daily physical activity, healthy eating habits, mindfulness techniques, and regular check-ins with OTML health coaches.
“We have registered over 200 employees, both individuals and groups for this campaign.”
“We will support participants in tracking their progress toward personal goals.”
“Additional activities will include a school health poster competition, a health song competition, and a health video competition to keep everyone engaged.”
Dika Toua, Papua New Guinea’s weightlifting champion, was the guest of honor during the program’s premiere.
Ms Toua, a source of inspiration for sports and fitness in the Pacific, offered advice and motivation, emphasizing the need of dedication and mental power in reaching a better body.
“This challenge is about individual commitment that will empower you to make positive changes in your life.”
Alan Bong, OTML’s Acting Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, emphasized that the company’s success is significantly dependent on its employees.
“Our people are our greatest assets and OTML is committed to ensuring our workforce remains healthy and safe while at work with numerous initiatives targeted at improving employee health, wellbeing and performance.”
“By introducing initiatives focused on health and wellness, we can enhance productivity, reduce stress, and foster a happier, more vibrant working environment.”
The corporation has previously launched a variety of health and wellness initiatives, including the Ok Tedi Women’s Network and associated programs, the Pasin Ok Tedi programs, and, most recently, the Wantok Yu Orait Campaign.
Initial development has also begun on the new FIFO Village onsite, which is part of the Company’s Growth 2050 Strategy to improve employee wellness and performance levels.
