The long-neglected communities of Bagou and Killerenton in the Sauga areas of Popondetta District now have improved road access to public services and essential goods.
Local Member of Parliament (MP) Richard Masere in collaboration with the Popondetta District Development Authority (PDDA), is pleased to announce that the upgrade and maintenance project for Killerenton Road has been completed, and the road is officially open for use by the community.
In a significant effort to enhance civil infrastructure, the Popondetta DDA undertook the grading and maintenance of the long-overlooked Killerenton Road in the Sauga Area of Popondetta District. Stretching approximately five kilometers from Bagou Village to Killerenton Beach, the Killerenton Road had experienced neglect for over six decades, severely affecting the mobility and livelihoods of residents. Recognizing the urgent need for revitalization, the Popondetta DDA took decisive action to reopen this vital roadway.
Masere emphasized the importance of grading Killerenton Road for the residents of Killerenton Village and the surrounding communities.
“Improved road infrastructure not only enhances accessibility but also promotes economic growth by facilitating smoother transportation of goods and services. Additionally, it fosters social cohesion by improving connectivity among communities.”
He also highlighted that this initiative reflects the commitment of the Popondetta DDA to prioritize infrastructure development and address the long-standing challenges faced by residents in the Popondetta District.
“By revitalizing neglected roads such as Killerenton Road and others, we aim to uplift living standards, stimulate economic activity, and enhance the overall quality of life for residents,” he stated.
