The State Funeral Program of late Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare is now underway at the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium in Port Moresby.
A record crowd is seated within the arena including delegates while a huge crowd in the hundreds waiting outside the stadium have been refused entry as the stadium reached its full capacity.
The casket came in a motorcade from the Funeral Home at Erima and escorted into the venue by the joint forces from the Royal Papua New Guinea constabulary, PNG Correction Services and PNG Defense Force.
The casket of Grand Chief Sir Michael Somare now lies in the main arena on a special built alter before the crowd, as Cardinal and Metropolitan Archbishop of Port Moresby His Eminence Sir John Ribat leads the funeral service.
