The Mono Mutrus Brothers’ team manager, Mr. Tony Kili has expressed his profound joy and gratitude following their victory in the KCK Rigo Rice Cup Leg- 1 Grand Final, after defeating D8 Mosquitoes 12-6 on Sunday in Port Moresby city.
“I want to thank the KCK Rigo Rice Cup for providing an outstanding platform for rugby league,” Mr. Kili said.
“It has given us a purpose to play, and I am glad our team emerged victorious today.”
He also extended his respect to their opponents, acknowledging their fierce competition.
Hailing from the Moresby North- West suburb of Hohola, the Mono Mutrus Brothers overcame financial challenges, relying solely on Mr. Kili’s unwavering support.
“Without any sponsors or partners, I have supported the boys, and I am so proud of their performance,” he said.
Mr. Kili, alongside his Head Coach Mr. Lindsay Tami emphasized that the team’s fans played a crucial role in boosting the team’s morale, particularly during the second half. Their energy propelled the team to secure a decisive try, cementing their lead and ultimately claiming the title.
Looking ahead, Mr. Kili and the team are determined to prepare for the playoffs in March, where they will face top contenders.
“This journey has been about respect, discipline, and hard work, and it has paid off,” he said.
