Police in Simbu investigating the murder of a young woman at Tabale Local Level Government (LLG), got a break in the case when suspects were handed over to them by locals.
According to police, the victim was attacked on Monday afternoon and her body was later found near the Kawikane River. Since the report was lodged, police began the investigation and got lucky when the suspects were brought to them.
Simbu Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Acting Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang confirmed that the main suspect, Boika Boyboy, 35, of Mu village in Sinsine, was caught by locals this morning and handed to police. One other suspect was earlier arrested.
Rubiang praised the community for their support.
“I thank all leaders and villagers for working with police. Your help made this possible,” he said.
He also warned against harboring criminals.
