The Madang Provincial Police Commander has strongly condemned the sexual assault of a three-and-a-half-year-old girl, describing it as a disturbing and inhumane crime.
Acting Superintendent Robert Baim told PNG HAUSBUNG that the actions of the suspect are abhorrent and completely unacceptable in our society.
“We will ensure that justice is served and that such crimes are met with the full force of the law.”
According to police reports, the incident occurred on December 29, 2024, in the DCA Settlement area.
The suspect allegedly lured the victim and her one-year-old brother to a secluded area behind James Barnes Cannery, where the assault took place.
Baim urged the community to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behavior.
“The safety of our children is a shared responsibility,” he said.”
“We must work together as a community to prevent such horrific crimes and protect our most vulnerable.”
He also called for increased support for victims of sexual violence, including access to counseling, medical care, and legal assistance.”
“This case highlights the urgent need for more awareness and education on child protection,” Baim said.
“We must instill a culture of respect and responsibility to ensure our children grow up in a safe environment.”
Police continue to investigate the case, and authorities have urged the public to report any information that could assist in ensuring justice is served.
