International Day of the Midwife falls annually on May 5th – a day which recognizes the significance of the role of midwives especially under serious circumstances, and this year’s theme "Midwives: Critical in every crisis," honors midwives as essential individuals involved in emergency response. In Papua New Guinea, organizations involved in health and population marked this day emphasizing the importance of midwifery. On social media platform, Facebook, organizations such as the Catholic Church Health Services PNG made special mention of their midwives in the Kundiawa Diocese who celebrated the day with the Simbu Provincial Health Authority.
