National Pandemic Deputy Controller Dr Daoni Esorom is calling on every Papua New Guinean to get vaccinated which is the only tool that can protect anybody from COVID-19 and the Delta Variant.

He makes this call as the nation records its first COVID-19 Delta variant case.

A 60-year-old man from the Philippines was confirmed with the Delta variant this morning in Port Moresby and he is now in isolation at the Pacific International Hospital.

The man is a captain of a cargo ship that left the Philippines last month.

Meanwhile, the government is yet to release new measures, however the public is urged to follow the safety protocols already in place and keep practicing the new norm.
