The Cheshire Disability Services in Port Moresby got a timely assistance today in the form of a cheque of K9, 980 along with other donated goods from the Hilton Hotel.
This was part of the Hilton Hotels community service assistance under their global community support program called the Blue Energy scheme, they did the Carols under the Stars last Christmas and to raise money to support these children with special needs.
The proceedings from this event was K9, 980 and that with other goods were given over to the Cheshire Disability Home today.
Cheshire Board Member Mr. Kevin Buckby said that it is through such generosity that they are able to continue serving the community and these special needs people.
“It is only through this kind of generosity that we manage to run such operation that supports thousands of special needs Papua New Guineans,” he said.
“If we are not here to support these special needs people than there is no body.”
Mr. Buckby also said to have such a big hotel business support them was encouraging.
General Manager of Hilton Hotel Ryan Mikkelson said the Hotel was proud to be part of Cheshire disability homes and it is their hope to strengthen communities through such donations.
So far the Cheshire homes have four programs they run and they are Residential Care, Inclusive Education, Community-based Rehabilitation and Young Voices.
