As part of its Go Green campaign, BSP nominates Eco Ambassadors from each branch who take lead in the environmental programs each year.
BSP Eco Ambassador Eric Tassman while at Sevese Morea Elementary School this morning said BSP Waigani Drive Branch was happy to be part of the World Environment Day celebration in promoting this year’s theme.

BSP Corporate Sponsorship Manager Amelia Minnopu said “Ecosystem Restoration is the 2021 theme for World Environment Day which falls tomorrow, Saturday 5th June, 2021, “and our selected PNG Branches are observing the day with Tree Planting programs today. In NCD, we have selected schools participating in this activity such as St Theresa, Boreboa, Ted Diro, Taurama, Kouderika and Severse Morea Primary School, while children from BSP Supported Buk Bilong Pikinini Library Learning Centre’s in Lae and Goroka also did the same.

“Tomorrow, Saturday 5th June, 2021, BSP Lorengau Branch will lead a clean-up program under its Lukautim Solwara initiative around the town’s beach front with the Lorengau Buk Bilong Pikinini children.
Ms Minnopu said BSP is thankful to PNG Forestry for providing tree seedlings for the World Environment Day Tree Planting program, which will see the trees eventually provide shade and beautify the school campus.

“This activity aims to educate children about the importance of restoring the ecosystems globally by the simple act of planting one tree wherever they are in their communities.
“Apart from our branches, we have supported various groups (PNG Encounter First, Upcycling PNG and Anitua) with Go Green merchandise for their clean-up activities leading up to World Environment Day.

“Other Go Green events we support include World Earth Day, Earth Hour, Reuse and Recycling Programs such as the Trash to Treasure program that will also commence after this month and the annual Go Green Annual School Clean-up day,” Ms Minnopu added.
