Police in Hela Province are investigating the recent killings and destruction of a landowner company’s base camp in Hides. Provincial Police Commander (PPC) Joseph Tondop said it was a serious criminal matter with acts of arson and double murder. He also confirmed reports that two people were killed in the fighting and properties and assets belonging to landowner company TransWonderLand Limited got burnt down. Indonesia’s parliament is expected to pass a new criminal law this month that will punish sex outside marriage with imprisonment of up to a year. Bambang Wuryanto, a politician involved in the draft, said the code could be passed as early as next week. The law, if passed, would apply to Indonesian citizens and foreigners alike. Today 3rd of December marks the International Day of persons with disabilities. According to WHO, every 10% of the country’s population are people with disabilities, including children. Persons with disabilities in PNG face tremendous issues daily- most importantly, their survival kit and enabling system. Morobe Rural SME Foundation Inc. (MRSMEF) recently carried out a Financial Literacy Training for the locals in Gagidu, Finschaffen District, in Morobe Province.
