Non-citizens who overstayed their visa and unlawfully resides in Papua New Guinea must immediately report in person to the Immigration and Citizenship Authority to be assisted through an in-country visa reissuance incentive, the Chief Migration Officer Mr. Stanis Hulahau says. “The in-country visa reissuance incentive is specifically designed to assist non-citizens who were unable to travel out of the country as a result of the pandemic and the closure of international borders and as a result have overstayed,” says Mr Hulahau. Papua New Guinea has recorded 205 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours ending 12 midday on Wednesday April 7, increasing the total number of cases to 7,839. The country’s total known COVID-19 deaths is 68. The National Capital District reported 27 new cases of which 19 are males, seven females and one not stated. Their ages range from 23 to 68 years.
