Queenpads PNG conducted a 2-day awareness program recently in Goroka, Eastern Highlands Province. The purpose of the awareness was to educate girls and women as well as males on the topic of menstrual health and hygiene. The UPNG West New Britain Student’s Association are currently raising funds for their end of year project- A Book Drive. This is to support rural schools back in the province who do not have enough resources to learn. UPNG WNBSA President, Zeal Dau said that the students came up with the initiative of schools helping schools to improve the standards of learning especially in the rural areas. “The purpose of the fundraising is to raise funds to finance our end of the year ending project (Book Drive), also to cater for freight, clearance, and shipment of boxes to the province.”…

The DWU Unity Rugby League Team will be taking part in this year’s Vice Chancellor’s Cup which will take place on the 21st to the 23rd of this month in Port Moresby. UNICEF is set to launch a 34-episode Radio Drama Series tonight titled, “Changing the headlines” at the Hilton Hotel in Port Moresby.  The Radio Drama will be broadcasted by NBC as part of a communication campaign to promote social and behavioral change. 14 Senior Police officers who attended a two-day workshop this week on Human Rights at the Centre of Excellence (COE), Bomana outside of Port Moresby are now better equipped with the knowledge and skills they will require to handle human rights issues in their line of duty as law enforcing officers. The Agmark Rabaul Gurias have lost with a 4 points difference against the Lae Snax Tigers in a clash on Sunday afternoon at the Lae Rugby League Oval. A disallowed try in the final minutes by the Gurias due to a forward pass, has set the tigers to take on the win, 20-16.
