While writers around the world marked International Writer’s Day on March 3rd, the same may not be said for PNG but with individuals such as young playwright and theatre artist, Andrew Kuliniasi, the art of writing is worth celebrating. Kuliniasi who has written approximately four plays and one published play, has made quite a name for himself in the creative sector. The Mineral Resources Development Company (MRDC) and its subsidiary Gas Resources Plant (GRPNGLNGP) recently announced the handover of a double classroom to Redscar High School in Porebada village, on the PNG LNG Project plant site outside Port Moresby. The newly constructed facility is a welcome addition to the high school, which has been experiencing a significant shortage of classroom space. It took two months to finish the double classroom, which cost K620,000. Local contractors were hired to complete the project, with labor coming from the surrounding communities. Moresby Arts Theatre (MAT) will be staging the Shakespearean play Hamlet, in April, but with a local modern twist.
