The proper maintenance of vehicles to ensure their roadworthiness is extremely important when it comes to road safety in towns and cities in the country. The increased number of unsilenced and faulty vehicles in Port Moresby city alone has increased the probability of more accidents from a logical perspective. It is because of this that vehicle owners and drivers are frequently reminded to maintain standard vehicle condition and follow road safety rules and regulation especially from the Motor Vehicle Insurance Limited (MVIL), Road Traffic Authority (RTA) and by police at the occasional police roadblocks. However, these warnings are constantly neglected. Most of the faulty and unregistered vehicles are in highly populated and isolated locations as well, operating with minimum monitoring from authorities. One such case that highlights further the importance of road safety, was in NCD when a faulty 25-seater PMV Bus-9 crashed and caused a dangerous collision of five vehicles altogether at the Waigani crossing on Thursday 19th September. The bus-9, operating the Gerehu and 4-mile route, had experienced brake failure while traveling from Ensisi to Waigani and crashed completely into a small sedan that stopped at the crossing, causing a collision of other vehicles stopped at that same crossing. Fortunately, no major injuries or deaths were reported in this accident. The first police officer from Waigani police stationed who arrived at the scene reported that no one was injured from the crash, including the pedestrians near the crossing. Police once again call on vehicle owners to be more responsible by keeping their vehicles in good condition and fully registered to avoid such incidents and subsequent consequences

The Papua New Guinea famous Modern Wan Squad Dance group will host its Dance Workshop and competition today at the Hilton Hotel and Suits in Port Moresby, proudly sponsored by Mountain Dew. The Competition will be judged by four members of the Australian Dance crew members including wan squads team leader to help identify the top dance crews. The 12th place best dance crew in the World of HipHop Wan Squad through the competition are pleased to encourage and inspire youngsters and peer groups to pursue their goals in modern dancing. The competition’s registration category includes the Junior level for the teens (Kids) and opens for adults. The junior category consists of 10-17 years old and will declare three winners from the first to third place, while the opens category from the age of 18+ will include the 6 winners from the 6th to first place winners. More than 10 dance groups have registered, consisting of adults and juniors. Most of the dance groups are from the local suburbs while few travelled from Tubusere, Barakau and HanuaBada villages. The groups all came with one main goal in mind, and that is to give their best and win the first prize. Despite the rival nature of a competition, the teams have shown respect and acknowledgement to their competition, including the hosts. The competition commences at 4pm this afternoon at the Hilton Hotel with the public and family, friends, and colleagues allowed to come support.

The International Training Institute (ITI) Celebrates 16th Anniversary Founders Day at the Taurama Aquatic Center on Friday 30th August in Port Moresby. The ITI Founders Day represents a special day to honor and commemorate the Late ITI Co-Founder Professor Sentheyval Thuraiappah, acknowledging and embracing his commitment to creating opportunity in the academic welfare of underprivileged youth since Papua New Guinea’s Independence. The Founders Day is a public holiday to all ITI establishments around the nation, and also acts as a platform to acknowledge other deceased ITI members, students or staff to be honored and respected. The Founders Day was also a fun day with competitive fun games with the school staff competing with students, along with presentations and entertainment for the enjoyment of the staff and the student body. ITI Assistant Manager and member of the Founders Day Committee, Mary Kamasunga told PNG HAUSBUNG that the day represents a day to share sorrow but translated through positive activities for students and staff to interact and openly communicate in a fun and enjoyable space. Furthermore, she emphasized that it's a fun space for socializing between the students and staff, especially for the new students which can help break barriers between them and other students and teachers. With the teams divided through their courses including the Staff, the event saw Basketball, Volleyball and Dart as the major games due to the space limit. Students also performed songs and dances during lunch. The entire day was a full house with students having fun and making memories with their peers and teachers.

Mavn LKLD will be releasing two more singles soon following his newly released song “Tingim Yu” featuring Stingray Records Studio Producer “Vyto.” Taking the name “Mavn” from his concerned mothers for his productive traits at home, he has fully embraced this name adding his own tune “LKLD” to fully satisfy and solidify his stage name. Loyd stated the famous single “Go Bek” originated from his experience while residing and work travels throughout West New Britain, East New Britain and Bougainville. The song symbolized the common young relationship nature of girl from a comfortable family falling from a local island boy. Being new to writing lyrics it was initially a struggle but his ability to translate English to Tok Pisin was very accurate. “I used Tok Pisin Idioms to make the lyrics shorter.” “I described the rich girl from a comfortable family as, ‘Such things yu bara danger oh.’ While the rest came into place from Tok Pisin Idioms from our local slangs,” said Loyd. The grand opening of the Pro Fitness Gym will soon come to life at the Igam Barracks, Second Bus Stop in Lae Morobe Province. Young Entrepreneur and founder of the Wantok Sports Agency Mr. Nickson Borana told PNG HAUSBUNG his initiative behind Pro Fitness Gym and the postponement of its grand opening. Borana emphasized that Lae has only one Gym located at the stadium downtown. However, it lacks proper endurance and conditioning training equipment with an expensive entry fee, and the location is quite a distance from most rural communities to allow accessible quality and healthy workouts. He added the unforeseen delays caused by the recent heavy rains have pushed the grand opening date to later this year. This new gym promises to bring accessible, high-quality fitness services to Lae residents, particularly those in rural communities who lack affordable and nearby exercise facilities. Pro Fitness Gym is designed to address the gaps Borana identified in Lae’s fitness landscape. With only one public gym available in downtown Lae, which lacks proper endurance and conditioning equipment, Borana saw the need for a more accessible and affordable alternative. His long-term goal is to establish more gyms in rural areas, making quality fitness opportunities available to all.
