Papua New Guinea has recorded 169 new COVID-19 cases this week, increasing the total number of cases to 16,185.
The cases were reported in 15 provinces with West New Britain reporting the highest of 74 cases. Northern Province reported 36 cases, Western Highlands 16, Enga 12, Eastern Highlands seven, National Capital District six, Hela four, Morobe, New Ireland, the Autonomous Region of Bougainville, Central, Southern Highlands and Gulf two cases each and Milne Bay reported a single case.
Of the 169 cases reported, 105 were males whilst 64 were females. Their ages range from four to 64 years. A total of 97 cases were showing symptoms of COVID-19 at the time of testing.
The country’s COVID-19 cases now stands at 16,185 with 162 known deaths. A total of 15,408 recoveries have been recorded.
To date, a total of 115,252 people have been tested for COVID-19.
All 22 provinces including the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB) have reported cases.
Globally, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 has reached 171,916,681 including 447,206 new cases reported in the last 24 hours. The death toll stands at 3,575,556 including 10,393 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.
