Papua New Guinea has recorded two new COVID-19 deaths this week, increasing the total number of deaths to 107.
The deaths were reported in Morobe and in the National Capital District. Morobe reported the death of a
53-year-old female whilst NCD recorded the death of a 57-year-old female.
To date, NCD has recorded 66 deaths, Eastern Highlands eight, Jiwaka and Milne Bay five each, Morobe six, West New Britain and Western Highlands three each, West Sepik four, Western Province, East Sepik and New Ireland two each whilst Enga reported a single death.
Also in the last 24 hours, 80 cases were reported from 13 districts in seven provinces. The National Capital District reported seven cases, Morobe two, East New Britain five, the Autonomous Region of Bougainville six, East Sepik 25, Milne Bay six and Manus 29 cases.
Of the 80 cases, 48 were males and 32 females. At the time of testing, 47 cases were showing symptoms of COVID-19 whilst 33 were asymptomatic.
PNG’s COVID-19 cases now stand at 10,915 with 107 known deaths. All 22 provinces including the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB) have reported cases.
A total of 8,773 people have recovered from COVID-19 whilst 2,035 cases are active within the last 14-day period.
Globally, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 is 147,780,801 including 727,419 new cases reported in the last 24 hours. The death toll is at 3,122,449 including 9,940 new deaths in the last 24 hours.
