As the 2024 academic year commences, Vunakanau Primary School in East New Britain Province witnessed the resumption of all its teachers take up their teaching posts as of Monday 22nd January 2024 as instructed from the education higher ups.
Vunakanau Primary Head Teacher Mr. Steven Taharin said, though the weather in the province is quite rainy and windy, all 24 teachers managed to come in on Monday.
“We opened the school at 9am and saw a total of only 22 teachers but by 12pm, the last 2 teachers came in and now we have a full house. All are present.”
Mr. Taharin said, as of this morning, they distributed the class allocations and are preparing their class lessons for next week Monday.
He further stated that, they have not received any funds yet but once they receive the first Government Tuition Fee Subsidy (GTFS), they will focus on buying school supplies and renovating some facilities within the school.
