The British High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea (PNG), His Excellency Keith Scott has hailed the recent hosting of the International Cricket Council East Asia Pacific T20 World Cup Qualifying finals as a huge success in promoting the positive aspects of the country.
Speaking to PNG HAUSBUNG, Scott mentioned that he had enjoyed catching the Cricket throughout the series and is happy with not only the cricketer’s performance, but also that of those that were present to watch all matches.
“I’ve enjoyed watching the cricket this week. It’s been a fantastic advert for international cricket, and I’m delighted that PNG have qualified for the ICC T20 World Cup Finals.”
“I watched a couple of games of PNG, and I love the energy and the enthusiasm, the fact that the youths are coming through and the fact that it is a great advert for PNG.”
He mentioned that there may be a lot that might not be going right in the country’s favor, but urged everyone to see the sport of cricket as a positive thing and wished the Barras all the best.
“We hear a lot of bad stories about PNG, but to see cricket as a positive story is fantastic.”
While speaking on the topic, he mentioned that the support for cricket has been increasing due to the performance of the Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited PNG Barramundis, stating that PNG is a world power in cricket and that it was brilliant to see PNG develop and succeed in this series.
