An extravagant event to cap off a tough week of activities saw a beautiful culmination last night, when the Miss Pacific Islands Pageant PNG crowned a new queen to represent the country in next year’s regional Miss Pacific Islands pageant.
A stunning display of elegance, beauty and intelligence, there could only be one queen.
All contestants were judged on three categories on the event night, Best Sarong, Best Talent and Best Traditionally Inspired Dress.
23 year old Josie Nicholas from Central Province walked away with the crown, after taking the Traditionally Inspired Award [An outfit she designed herself] in the special awards category and Best Topic Presentation for her presentation earlier this week.
Nicholas went on to clinch the title and will be representing the country on the regional stage next year in Samoa.
Coming in at 1st runner up, Miss Rapopo & Sanctuary Resorts, Leilani Konjib who got the Miss Humanitarian Award for raising the most money for her charity and the Telikom Peoples Choice Award, coming out on top after sifting through 37, 000 votes.
Miss Vodafone, Natania Kook was the most active among the rest with her fiery personality. She came in 2nd Runner up, becoming Miss Photogenic and taking the Best Talent Award.
Other special awards included, Miss Personality which went to Miss Alibi, Writer Collin, with Miss Vavine Tiare Central Province, Vavineleva Geno-Noga taking the Best Sarong wear.
