The official opening of the New Kavieng Airport Terminal has been confirmed and fixed for 03rd November, 2022 after having to go through two postponements at the request of the Prime Minister.
The controversial opening ceremony, first scheduled for 20th October was deferred tentatively to 27th October while awaiting a confirmed schedule from the Prime Minister has angered the New Ireland Provincial Government.
New Ireland Governor Sir Julius Chan made a decision after the numerous deferrals not to attend the opening and had pulled out from organizing the event towards the opening.
Prime Minister James Marape will be Guest of Honour and will officiate the Official Opening of the New Kavieng Airport Terminal and other upgraded airport facilities.
National Airports Corporation Managing Director and CEO Rex Kiponge has invited the people of New Ireland and Papua New Guinea to attend this milestone event in the province.
The project was implemented by NAC through the Civil Aviation Development Investment Program (CADIP), funded by the Government of Papua New Guinea (GoPNG), in partnership with the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
