The Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology has requested for K68million for the Tertiary Education Study Assistance Scheme (TESAS) scholarship for this year.
Despite this request, the department has only been allocated K37million.
This means only a minimum number of high performing students will be able receive a TESAS scholarship.
DHERST Secretary Fr Jan Czuba said the awarding of TESAS scholarships are important as this in turn encourages students to perform to their best.
