The new Delta Variant strain is behaving differently from the original COVID-19 virus and spreads faster among an unvaccinated population.
Deputy Controller of the National COVID-19 Control Centre, Dr Daoni Esorom made this statement while warning citizens about the impact the virus has on unvaccinated individuals.
He said the symptoms of COVID-19 includes fever, dry cough, joint pains, loss of taste and smell, flu-like symptoms and headache, however the Delta Variant does not show some of the symptoms mentioned.
“Delta Variant is behaving differently, patients now are coming forward with fever, headache and flu like symptoms but there is no dry cough or loss of taste and smell.”
“The evidence is showing us that it spreads very fast in very crowded environment and among an unvaccinated population.”
Dr Daonie said the COVID-19 Health and Safety protocols they have put out from the beginning are still relevant today and the public should strictly follow those protocols while opting for vaccination.
