The East New Britain (ENB) Rugby League Competition will host a Fan Day tomorrow at the Queens Park in Rabaul East New Britain Province for players, sponsors and fans to meet and interact with each other.
Fans and supporters of the eight teams; Tailili Bay Warriors, Rabaul Brothers, Tavui Giants, Bala Bulldogs, Matupit Sea Eagles, SSM Dolphins, Reimber Pythons and North Raiders are invited to be part this event that aims to get fans to know their players up close and personal and also for players to interact and build a good relationship with the ENB Community.
President of the ENB Rugby League Competition Michael Marum said they just finished round eight of the competition and decided to put round nine on hold for this weekend just to get players to be part of this event.
“Throughout the day, the players can come together and just spend some time with players from other teams and also with their fans and their sponsors.”
He said the day will start off with sponsors such as business houses doing promotions with a lot of great prizes to be given away.
“There will also be fun games and mini mode footy competition for the kids hosted by NRLPNG office based in Kokopo.”
The fan day will also showcase some of East New Britain’s popular artist performing some of their biggest hits.
“We will have the likes of Kanai Pineri, Kabu Rita, Anslom and many more others will perform tomorrow.”
Marum said the event also signifies an important milestone in the competition this year as they managed to run the competition without any hiccups.
Meanwhile Marum and the players have visited schools and communities throughout this week advocating on the importance of education and just encouraging youths to stay away from drugs such as homebrew which is a common social problem.
“On Wednesday we went to this island called Wotom Island close to the Nonga Base Hospital and visited three schools, sharing the same message and had some fun with the school kids.”
Marum said they have also been doing coaching clinics with all leagues in the province and they have successfully completed the coaching clinic on Thursday.
