Papua New Guinea has recorded 40 new COVID-19 cases this week, increasing the country’s total cases to 16,661.
The cases were reported in 10 provinces with the National Capital District reporting the highest of 10 cases followed by both West New Britain and Western Highlands with seven cases each.
Enga province reported five cases, East New Britain four, Western and Morobe two cases each whilst New Ireland, Madang and Jiwaka reported a single case each.
Of the 40 cases reported, 22 are males and 18 females. Their ages range from 18 to 70 years.
The country’s COVID-19 cases now stands at 16,661 with 164 known deaths. A total of 16,017 people have recovered from COVID-19. To date, 126,238 people have been tested for COVID-19.
All 22 provinces including the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB) have reported cases. The distribution of the cases are as follows:

Globally, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 has reached 173,674,509 including 333,823 new cases reported in the last 24 hours. The death toll stands at 3,744,408 including 8,662 deaths reported in the last 24 hours.
