Over 40 youths from the Morobe province were recently taken through a writers’ workshop with the aim to empower them to become good writers.
The Young Writers Workshop was successfully delivered from the 18th-21st July in the city of Lae, where a total of 43 participants attended.
The training centered on basic tips of essay writing, story writing, poem, journal writing and outlining of different writing skills. Excursions were also held to show the young writers the feel of how news stories are produced behind the scenes.
The young writers toured Lae News outlets such as The National newsroom, Post Courier, NBC radio and EMTV.
In his keynote address, the NYDA Director General, Joe Itaki, encouraged the young writers to do more reading to improve their reasoning and writing skills.
The training was made possible with the support of National Youth Development Authority (NYDA) partners, Expose Youth Magazine and Tati’s Journal, to empower young writers.
