The We Are One Foundation has thanked its sponsors and partners after raising more than K1.8 million this year to support hospitals and health centers across eight provinces in Papua New Guinea.
The acknowledgement was made at a Partners and Sponsors event in Port Moresby on Friday, following two major fundraisers, the Mother's Day Charity Music Festival and the Islands Petroleum Charity Color Run.
Director of We Are One Foundation, Mrs. Kavitha Bluett said the event was not to ask for more money, but to thank those who made the work possible.
"This afternoon is not about asking for money. We wanted to say a big thank you to all of you. You helped turn that hope into something real," Mrs. Bluett said.
She said the Mother's Day Charity Music Festival raised K112,000, while also sharing an important message about cervical cancer and encouraging women to seek screening.
The Islands Petroleum Charity Color Run, held across eight locations, raised approximately K1.7 million.
"We had sunshine, rain, mud and plenty of last-minute surprises. But despite the challenges, our communities showed up," Mrs. Bluett said.
She highlighted two moments in Kokopo, where supporters danced in the rain despite heavy downpour, and in Kimbe, where hundreds arrived before sunrise at 5am for the run.
"That is the spirit of We Are One. When we come together for something bigger than ourselves, so much can be achieved," she said.
This year, funds will support 13 hospitals across eight provinces.
Mrs. Bluett thanked major partners including New Britain Palm Oil, NCDC for free use of the stadium, Brian Bell for T-shirt sales, as well as Puma, Dulux PNG, East New Britain Provincial Government, Pacific Industries, and many others. She
also acknowledged the Governor of West New Britain for their K100,000 contribution.
She assured sponsors that transparency and accountability remain a priority, with detailed reports to be emailed outlining funds raised, items purchased, and project progress.
"We want you to see how your contributions are making a difference. Our doors are always open," she said.
Mrs. Bluett also thanked Islands Petroleum for covering all corporate and fundraising costs, ensuring 100% of funds raised go directly to beneficiaries.
She said the Foundation has several new programmes planned for 2027 and invited partners are to continue the journey to build a stronger, healthier PNG.
