The violence that has erupted in Gordons, Port Moresby today scattered the local vendors and innocent individuals following a death yesterday.
Acting Metropolitan Superintendent Mazuc Rubiang told PNG HAUSBUNG clearly addressed the situation and said this has slowly dissipated now after the police presence at the crime scene.
According to Acting Metropolitan Superintendent Rubiang, the incident is most likely related to a violent fight between two individuals from Tari Hela Province and Kerema Gulf Province resulting in both victims losing their lives yesterday and today.
AMS Rubiang also higlighted the death of the two individuals initially responsible for the violence eruption this morning.
Despite no official reports of the situation, Rubiang emphasized that police efforts are currently in progress, conducting investigating and interrogating the public including witnesses.
He added that Criminal Investigative Division (CID) has been informed and the Supt CID will head the investigation and report to him with further updates this afternoon.
Meanwhile, another incident took place yesterday in Kwikila resulting in a man currently behind bars at Boroko Police Jail for the death of a community member.
Supt Rubiang concluded that the both incidents will have investigations conducted to identify cause and extent to properly identify charges for suspects.
Furthermore, he urged the compliance of law and order from the public while investigations take course.
