The Lae Snax Tigers Head Coach Noel Zeming, stated that his team went into last Sunday’s game against the PRK Mendi Muruks with a debt to settle.
This was their third time facing the Muruks, who had defeated them twice during the regular season of this year’s 2025 Digicel ExxonMobil Cup.
Zeming who spoke to PNG HAUSBUNG after the match, stated that the Muruks have beaten them twice in the season, and now have a debt to settle as this is a big one.
“I told the boys that we had two debts to pay after those losses.”
“The Muruks have been too much for us, but this was the important one, we needed to win.”
Zeming emphasized that a strong focus on discipline and defense was key to victory.
In addition, while the coach acknowledged major errors from his side, he praised his team’s defensive resilience and their improved ability to handle mistakes.
Meanwhile, Zeming also stated that the team will now focus on improving on unnecessary errors.
He emphasized the goal for preparations will focus on attack and mostly defensive tactics heading into the Grand Final.
“Our focus now is polishing up on the areas of weakness, especially cutting down on drop balls, disciplining our tackles, and maintaining strong defence.”
Moreover, he praised his side for an overall resilient performance and now feels confident to look ahead for the upcoming Semi-finals.
“We worked hard on both attack and defence, but defence mostly.”
“I think that paid off well with the performance this afternoon.”
Furthermore, whilst looking ahead to the second semi-final showdown, Zeming remained grounded but optimistic.
He noted that while the team is proud of their first semi-final performance, there is still work to be done to ensure they lift the Cup.
“We will continue focusing on reducing errors and staying disciplined. Defence will remain our foundation going forward.”
