The Talai Spartan Captain Mr. Peter thrilled embraced with victorious win over the Vadatau Brothers 18-8 in Leg-2 Grand Final in the KCK Rigo Rice Cup 2025.
The Talai Spartans Captain Mr. Ako Peter stated that despite a draw 6-6 in the first half of 40 Minutes, the Talai Spartans consumed all their remaining strength with a single goal to bring home the win, crossing the try line by force wining 18-8.
Mr. Peter emphasized that the team preparation was key which we fulfilled before the game in camping together and focusing on how to go about the game today.
He mentioned that although errors were experienced throughout the full 80-minutes match, we had to polish up which led to our victory.
“We were unfortunate in the Governors Cup, but today our team worked really hard to take this win, and I am very proud of my boys for their undying effort to keep the game alive into full time,” said Mr. Peter.
Mr. Peter expressed his gratitude to his teammates, Team Management and sponsors for their support throughout the leg-2, especially the community support and fans who have left home to witness the grand final.
He further expressed his journey of 10 years without a Grand final win since 2015 in Moresby South Rugby League and was pleased to be the victors during this grand final.
The Talai Spartans Captain Mr. Peter remains committed to be true to his role in and off the field, maintaining his teams discipline inline to be resilient and dedicated towards their goal in the Top 12 finals.
