SVITZER PNG SUPPORTS MAJOR BOOK DONATION TO EVEDAHANA SCHOOLS

Buk bilong Pikinini (BbP) has announced the donation of 2,000 library books to Evedahana Primary & Junior High School, made possible through the support of Svitzer PNG.

The donation, delivered at the start of term 2, includes 1,000 books each for the primary and junior high schools. The resources aim to strengthen classroom learning, support research, and encourage independent reading among students.

Bbp executive officer Leanne Resson said the initiative will help foster a culture of reading.

“Books open the door to imagination, creativity, and opportunity. When a child picks up a book, they begin a journey where anything is possible.”

“By simply opening these pages, they can start building a future filled with knowledge and success. We encourage all students to develop a daily reading habit.”

Anna Ingip highlighted the company’s commitment to education, noting that access to quality reading materials can help shape brighter futures for young people across Papua New Guinea.

School leaders welcomed the donation, with head teacher Mr. Kagayabi describing it as a vital boost to literacy efforts.

“These books will open many opportunities for them.”

He urged students to take full advantage of the new books, emphasizing the importance of reading in improving learning outcomes.

Buk bilong Pikinini also acknowledged logistical support from PNG Air, Express Freight Management, and Sea Fast in transporting and distributing the books.

The organization is calling on more corporate partners to support schools facing resource shortages, stressing that increased access to books can drive lasting improvements in education across the country.
