The SO League Agency and Academy Pathway Program (LAAPP) recognized by the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League (PNGRFL) continues into round-one (1) after its preseason in three divisions.
The SO League focuses on community-based youth, to channel their energy into learning and making new companions under the SO LAAPP through Rugby League following Papua New Guinea’s bid for a PNG Rugby League team into the NRL in 2028
SO LAAPP Northeast Coordinator Mr. Allan Soto on Wednesday 9th April, told PNG HAUSBUNG that more than 200 community-based boys have displayed high interest through forming teams and participating in their age category with various teams in the Northeast.
Mr. Soto emphasized that the games are classified into three divisions, under 10s, 12s and 13s competing. He stressed that most teams are within the vicinity of Port Moresby Northeast, including Waigani, Tokarara, Hohola 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and Koraway.
Meanwhile, the SO LAAPP is currently coordinating their games as well at the 2-mile oval for Port Moresby South competition including the Northwest.
Furthermore, Mr. Soto informed that his crew had undergone the three-days SO LAAPP development training for event coordinators set up by the PNG RFL.
Almost 20 officials including Mr. Soto proudly and willingly volunteered to coordinate the games to give back to their home community in Hohola.
With most of the match officials possessing experience in Rugby League, their shared goal to contribute to the well-being of young boys in their neighbourhood to be active and healthy, has driven their daily tasks of coordinating the matches swiftly.
The Competition is expected to be completed on July, 2025.
