Soap maker Mrs. Nuailo Aihi, who is a home based SME at Gordons in the National Capital District, had to put her soap making on hold today, after water and power disruptions befell the city last night.
“I am making pandanus soaps today and all my ingredients are prepared, but I had to put the process on hold because we don’t have power and water.”
Mrs. Aihi said she needs power for her electric scrapper, to scrap the 100 or so coconuts that are the base of her of organic and scented soaps.
“I also need water to clean up afterwards. But since the water and power went out last night, I cannot do much today. We are just cleaning up around the place and doing other stuff to pass the time until the power and water comes back and this is such a waste of time.”
The SME owner also mentioned that when these kind of water and power disruptions come about, somethings the ingredients for her soaps get spoilt and she has to throw them out.
“We need to know what is happening. Before, they used to give us give us prior warning that the water or power supply will be out but. Now, we are left in the dark. It’s such a big inconvenience!”
