NCD Metropolitan Commander Chief Superintendent Warrick Simatab marked a milestone in policing cooperation with a formal visit to the Department of Community Development and Religion (DfCDR) Police Reservists recently.
The first visit by a Metropolitan Commander since they passed out in 2024, highlighting efforts to the growing role of stakeholder partnerships in maintaining law and order across the city.
Addressing the parade, Commander Simatab emphasized that collaboration with the Royal PNG Constabulary remains vital to boost manpower and address sensitive cases, especially those linked to gender-based violence (GBV).
The DFCDR Police Reservists were formed through an RPNGC agreement and have already assisted in handling GBV cases in the capital. Their corporate plan was formally presented to the NCD Metropolitan Command during the occasion, reaffirming their commitment to support policing efforts in alignment with national priorities.
NCD Metropolitan Superintendent commended the DFCDR Police Reservist initiative founder Chief Sergeant/Secretary Ubase and Police Reservists across the city for their contributions exercised in communities.
“Reserve police play a very important role in RPNGC because we are outnumbered and I need your support,” said NCD Commander Simatab.
Moreover, he assured the members of the DfCDR Police Reservists that he will deploy them across the police stations within NCD Command attached with Homicide, Cybercrime and FSVU to mitigate manpower shortfalls.
He also commended the DfCDR Reservists for submitting their Supplementary Operations Order for the Operation Safe City for the 50th Golden Jubilee independence celebrations.
Furthermore, Simatab welcomed the pending Memorandum of Understanding between NCD Command and DFCDR, stating it will cement the partnership and enhance joint operations as the city prepares for major events.
